I love chickpeas, they're such a versatile food to add into your cooking and baking - they're a wonderful source of protein and fibre with is a fantastic combination! It helps you to stay fuller for longer, slows the spike in blood blood sugar and keeps your energy levels stable.

That's why I love adding them into my baking whenever I can! I love enjoying eating something sweet while knowing I'm adding in more amazing nutrients into my body and keeping my energy levels in top form (something I definitely need as a mum!). I also love giving these to Koa as a nutrient dense snack to tie him over until his next meal time.

*These are also gluten, dairy and refined sugar free!

Chocolate Chickpea Cookies



  • 230g Canned Chickpeas
  • 100g Oats
  • 20g Cacao Powder
  • 4tsp Stevia*
  • 1 Egg
  • 1tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1tsp Baking Powder

*If I'm making these for Koa, I replace the stevia with 1 mashed banana and add in another 20g of Oats.


  1. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (160 degrees fan assisted) and line a baking tray with grease proof paper.
  2. Blend the oats in a food processor to create a flour like consistency, remove and place to one side.
  3. Blend the chickpeas in the food processor until smooth and then add in the oat flour and continue blending until fully combined.
  4. Remove the mixture and place it in a mixing bowl and stir through the rest of the ingredients, bringing it together to form a dough.
  5. Roll the dough into 9 balls and place each on the baking tray. Slightly flatten each of the balls and then bake for 10 minutes.
